CATAGEN and Powerscreen teams exhibiting at Hillhead Event
Last week, CATAGEN’s CTO and Co-Founder, Prof. Roy Douglas, and R&D Engineer, Jacob Douglas, were kindly invited by Powerscreen to attend and exhibit at Hillhead, the UK’s largest quarrying, construction, and recycling show.
Located at the Hillhead Quarry in Buxton, England, the event hosted over 600 of the world’s leading manufacturers and suppliers in this space, with live working demonstrations of quarrying, processing, or recycling machinery and equipment in a real quarry environment.
CATAGEN was invited by Powerscreen, a Terex brand, to showcase the HyDensity Project which is in partnership with Terex. Project HyDensity will deliver a decarbonised end-to-end demonstration of a Terex crusher and screener, powered by hydrogen and e-diesel at a site in Northern Ireland in 2025.
The HyDensity project was awarded £6.27 million through the UK Department for Energy Security and Net Zero as part of the part of the Red Diesel Replacement Phase 2 competition. In total this is part of a £8.1 million project to decarbonise non road mobile machinery.
The project will utilise CATAGEN’s ClimaHtech E-FUEL GEN and COMPRESSOR technology in the Terex Powerscreen Premiertrak 450E and Chieftain 1700XE.
The UK quarrying and mining industry emitted around 17.2 million metric tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions in 2022, according to recent findings*, and decarbonising these industries presents a significant challenge.
Our BIOHGEN, E-FUEL, and COMPRESSOR technologies will reach full-scale demonstration by Q4 this year, decarbonising Terex’s quarrying machinery on site with hydrogen and e-diesel.
CATAGEN’s purpose is to clean and decarbonise the air, and through the ClimaHtech system, we can decarbonise hard-to-abate industries such as quarrying and mining, but also cement, aviation, mobility, heavy machinery, marine, and even more.
