Belfast, (Nov 25) – CATAGEN, Green Emissions Testing proudly announces the extension of its expertise with the world’s first Diesel Aftertreatment Accelerated Ageing Cycle (DAAAC) electric reactor, driven by the company’s innovative OMEGA technology. This new capability underlines CATAGEN’s commitment to clean and decarbonise the air and supporting Heavy Duty industry in meeting stringent emissions regulation.
The DAAAC is a new, more representative approach to the accelerated ageing of heavy-duty aftertreatment systems, tailored for each customer to model both thermal and chemical degradation. By incorporating oil and sulphur exposure and flow-matching to on-road engine-aging modes alongside established thermal-ageing acceleration the DAAAC improves correlation with real-world data while delivering a step-change in test efficiency. Crucially, it aligns with and supports compliance pathways under U.S. emissions legislation for example EPA & CARB’s increased durability expectations. It has been designed to reduce aging time by approximately 10× versus dynamometer or field testing.
The OMEGA technology, an electrically powered, recirculating synthetic gas reactor was developed to maximise efficiencies and overcome the challenges met by OEMs. The patented OMEGA technology has been designed for long durability testing, at high temperatures with fully customisable synthetic gas operating conditions. The OMEGA provides repeatability, accuracy, and significant cost savings, with CO₂ emissions reduced by up to 98% compared to engine aging.
We are also pleased to announce a partnership with a leading European heavy-duty OEM to deliver representative aged systems using our OMEGA technology and the DAAAC protocol, accelerating aftertreatment development and validation.
