17 September 2026– Belfast
Roush Industries and CATAGEN Green Emissions Testing have entered a Strategic Alliance to bring CATAGEN’s advanced catalyst development and engine-free aging technology to North America.
The Alliance marks the beginning of a multi-year transatlantic agreement, bringing CATAGEN Green Emissions Testing’s Belfast-developed technology closer to North American customers through Roush’s engineering and testing capabilities.
As part of the agreement, CATAGEN’s internationally patented OMEGA Reactors will be installed at Roush’s Livonia, Michigan facility. The technology enables fast, clean, and highly controlled catalyst aging without an engine, delivering faster testing, improved cost-efficiency, and significant CO₂ reduction compared to conventional engine-based methods. CATAGEN Green Emissions Testing already supports customers across North America through its Belfast facilities, and the Alliance will bring this capability closer to an established and growing customer base in the region.
Roush, the Michigan-based engineering company founded by motorsports legend Jack Roush, will expand their emissions development services to OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers across the U.S. using CATAGEN’s proprietary OMEGA technology.
Located in the heart of the U.S. automotive industry, Roush is well positioned to provide high-performance testing solutions aligned with evolving U.S. emissions regulations.
This collaboration comes at a critical time for the automotive sector. As regulations such as EPA 2027 and CARB standards tighten, alongside rising energy costs and evolving greenhouse gas requirements across passenger, heavy-duty, off-road, and marine sectors, OEMs face increasing pressure to validate aftertreatment systems quickly, cost-effectively, and sustainably.
CATAGEN’s OMEGA Reactor enables faster and more precise validation of aftertreatment systems, including catalysts and filters, delivering up to 98% CO₂ reduction and up to 30% cost savings through automation, reduced downtime, and advanced data insights. The technology is fully compatible with next-generation powertrains, including hydrogen internal combustion engines (H₂ ICE), e-fuels, hybrid, and fuel cell systems, enabling near-zero-emissions test cycles.
Through the Alliance, OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers developing products for the U.S. market will be able to accelerate time-to-market, meet tightening emissions regulations and access advanced catalyst development capabilities locally, while reducing both operational costs and environmental impact.
“This Alliance represents a significant step in our global growth and in cementing CATAGEN Green Emissions Testing’s position as a global leader in catalyst aging,” said Dr Kurtis Irwin, CEO, CATAGEN Green Emissions Testing. “North America is a critical market for that journey, and Roush’s engineering expertise, customer relationships and strong position within the automotive sector make them an ideal fit as we establish our capability in the region. Together, we can bring faster, more flexible and more cost-effective catalyst development to OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers, while reducing reliance on conventional fossil-fuel-based testing methods.”
“We are happy to be working with CATAGEN to introduce the OMEGA Reactor to our suite of development and testing services,” said Matt Van Benschoten, VP of Advanced Engineering at Roush. “This collaboration expands our capabilities and provides customers with access to advanced catalyst development solutions aligned with the industry’s shift toward cleaner, more efficient technologies.”
